Ok so you are searching while helping mom. Sounds perfect. And if you decide on exploring Mexico, I can help . I can sense the peace of a small town after city life. I felt it visiting Maine. But for me, it lacked exotica and I knew the convo and lifestyle would have me feeling entrapped after a short time. When I think of leaving here I always wonder why. The politics, the shootings, the general malaise y costs. Mexico is peaceful with exotica, liberal, accepting and filled with traditions, fiestas, customs that make the US seem like an unruly brat out to kill his family. Don’t get lonely. Fill yourself up. Create.

The only writers who don't love silence and being alone, and this is a generalization and not a rule -- are the ones who write TV and movies. Because they long for communality. Even playwrights need to be somewhere quiet. When I dream now, I dream of Maine, of rocks, and far isles. This is a beautiful peace. Cities - they will kill - its all uber and cortisol,

Another stunning piece of writing. The juxtapostion of the insanity of Midtown West to the bucolic and peaceful town you are in now is quite palpable. Seems like despite the solitude you feel at times now, you are able to write in more tranquil and serene environment. Great essay
